I've been leasing my own web server from Dell for $94/month for the past 4
years. When the number of domains I own and manage grew beyond 100 domains it just made sense to have my own
web server. I wanted greater control over my web sites.
But $94/month is just the tip of the iceberg. I am also paying $152/month to
store that web server in a secure collocation facility. It's rack mounted in a controlled and secure
environment and should I need a reboot, all I have to do is call my buddy and it's done.
Do the math -- $246/month -- that's about $3K/year. That's a lot of dough in
this economy. There has to be a better way and there is -- Host Gator. If you have a web site, you need a web host. The most economical way to
do this is by selecting an affordable and quality web hosting service like Host Gator.
Web hosting starts at only $19.95/month. Compared to the $246/month I was
paying, this is a huge savings. I signed up for their 3 year plan and this will result in a three years savings
of about $8750!
Host Gator uses the familiar CPanel to administer and setup your web sites and email
accounts. Their interface is familiar and easy-to-use. If you have questions about features or
functionality, they have an exhaustive online Frequently Asked Questions library, and should you need more
hands-on assistance, their customer service team is super responsive and helpful. I am pleased.
I don't feel like I gave up anything by switching from my own leased server to a
web hosting service. I must admit I thought moving my sites over was going to be challenging. It really is
pretty easy (if you want to gain a better understanding about CPanel, I recommend you check out CPanel Tutorials reviewed
elsewhere on this site).
Over the next few months, I will be moving all of my 100+ domains over to Host
Gator, so I can turn my leased web server off in April 2011 when the lease is up. I'll be putting back over
$200/month into my pocket which I can use to pay my bills!
If you are looking for a new web host or considering moving your domains from
your existing web host, I strongly recommend Host Gator. To learn more about Host Gator services and pricing, please click here.
